We are thrilled to announce the two speakers who will be featured at our upcoming Membership Lunch! Please join us in Manhattan, Kansas on August 3, 2023, to hear presentations from Robert Ott, the Director of Public Works for the City of Manhattan, and TJ Vilkanskas, the President of Back 9 Development.

Featured Speakers:

Robert Ott 

Director of Public Works for the City of Manhattan, Kansas

Ott will provide updates to active projects in the City of Manhattan, such as North Campus Corridor, Aggieville, and Levee Reconstruction. He will also touch on new construction that started in late 2022 and early 2023, project overview of N. Manhattan Pedestrian signal upgrades, Intersection upgrades at Denison and Kimball, Clarifier #3 at Waste Water Treatment Plant, and CM@R method of delivery for biosolids program at Waste Water treatment plant. Finally, there will be an overview of studies that the public works department is participating in, which are Sunset Ave from Anderson Ave to Claflin, East Manhattan Gateway Study, and CM@R for CiCo Park Ball Park and Tennis Courts.

TJ Vilkanskas

President of Back 9 Development

Vilkanskas founded Back 9 Development over 10 years ago in his hometown of Manhattan, Kansas for the purpose of building high-performance custom homes, as well as vertical and horizontal real estate development. He will discuss with us the challenges that come with developing in smaller markets, as well as touch on his experience working through the development process with his team of engineers, architects, and municipalities. Vilkanskas will also share the trends he foresees in development over the next five years. 

These  lunches are where we discuss issues of concern to ACEC of Kansas and the engineering industry.  The ACEC of Kansas Board, as always, is interested in getting feedback from you and your attendance at this event affords that opportunity.
