September Membership Lunch
We are thrilled to announce the four speakers who will be featured at our upcoming Membership Lunch! Please join us in Overland Park, Kansas on September 21, 2023, to hear presentations on the KC Levees Program and the Kansas City, Kansas Riverfront Redevelopment.
Resiliency and Resurgence through the KC Levees and KCK Riverfront Projects
The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has undertaken the $529M KC Levees flood risk management project to improve the reliability and resiliency of 17 miles of levees and floodwalls located along the Kansas River in Kansas City, Kansas and Missouri. Scott Mensing, USACE KC and Tom Poer, HNTB will provide a project overview and highlight the criticality of this area to national rail operations, and describe techniques utilized to establish a collaborative relationship between the project team and railroads.
Spring boarding off of the federal investment in the area, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas (UG) is investing in its community through the KCK Riverfront project. Sarah White, UG and Bill Madsen, HNTB will explore the long term vision and exciting developments growing along the Kansas River to bring a resurgence to the waterfront.
These lunches are where we discuss issues of concern to ACEC of Kansas and the engineering industry. The ACEC of Kansas Board, as always, is interested in getting feedback from you and your attendance at this event affords that opportunity.
Please put the next membership luncheon on your calendar:
